As the temperatures begin to plunge and utility bills begin to rise, Imagine Grinnell has revamped and restocked three Home Energy Toolkits at Drake Community Library. Originally created in 2009, home energy toolkits are for residents to check-out and utilize in their home to increase energy efficiency and lower monthly utility bills.

Within the newly restocked and revamped home energy kits are window film for five windows with a hair dryer, spray foam to fill gaps and cracks, a caulk gun with two tubes of caulking, LED lightbulbs, a digital thermometer, a kill-a-watt meter and other necessities to ensure safety. All energy kits also include product descriptions, instructions and links for product operation. Instruction links can also be found on the Imagine Grinnell website.

“This is the perfect time for community members to do a self-check of their home’s efficiency,” says Roger Hill, Imagine Grinnell board member. “The items located in the kit can be used by anyone, regardless of skill level. Our goal is to give people tools to save money and energy.”
Community members are encouraged to check-out one of the three home energy toolkits from Drake Community Library during their open hours, Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
