Thanks to a collaboration with Poweshiek County Public Health and funding from opioid settlement grants, two outdoor Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are now available at Ahrens Park.
The Ahrens Park Foundation firmly believes these devices play a vital role in cardiac emergencies, providing critical life-saving assistance that can significantly impact response times and, ultimately, save lives.
📍 AED Locations:
✅ South side of the north baseball concession stand (by the ball diamonds)
✅ South side of the building by the flagpole (near the playground & early learning center)
🔴 What is an AED?
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a medical device that helps restart the heart during sudden cardiac arrest by delivering a controlled shock. It provides clear, step-by-step voice instructions, so anyone—even without medical training—can use it in an emergency.
🛑 How to Access an AED
These life-saving devices are securely stored in climate-controlled yellow boxes and can be accessed by calling 911 to receive an access code. The AED will guide you through the process until medical professionals arrive.
By installing these AEDs, we are taking a proactive step toward making Ahrens Park a safer place for everyone. Thank you to our partners and supporters for helping protect our community! 💙
