• Tell us a little bit about YOU!:
My husband, Nick, and I have been married since August 2019. He farms here with his family, so this is where we plant our roots! I am a registered nurse in the obstetrics department at the hospital in Grinnell. I’m currently in school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife and graduate in September with my master’s degree in nursing. I’m very passionate that women feel listened to, supported, and empowered in their healthcare decisions and body. In my “free time” I really enjoy traveling with my husband and spending time with my family and pets!
• Why did you want to be apart of SHE Counts?
As an OB nurse and a midwife student, helping and supporting women through all walks of life is something I’m extremely passionate about. I came across SHE Counts and realized that there was a way I could help women right here in my own community, alongside women who are just as passionate as I am, and really put my thoughts and words into action in a feasible way. So when the opportunity came to become a board member, it was a no brainer!
• What’s your favorite part of SHE Counts?
My favorite part of SHE Counts is the room for growth. There are so many avenues that SHE Counts has to help women that I could never have alone. Like I said before, it’s so awesome to be surrounded by women who want the same thing as you, which is for women to feel supported and empowered right here in our own community.
