March 8 marks International Women’s Day and S.H.E Counts wants to take this time to celebrate the women in your life. Jane Casten, S.H.E. Counts board chair tells us “I was drawn to S.H.E counts by the support, awareness and impact the board was making within the community, allowing women’s voices to be heard and share their stories.” We want to share with you how S.H.E Counts is impacting the women and girls in the Grinnell community and Poweshiek County each day:

Math Club: We support Davis elementary 3rd– 4th grade girls with a weekly after school educational math learning program.

Hygiene Drive: Annually supporting and providing awareness for hygiene product needs within our local schools, MICA, Renewed Hope, and communities in greater Poweshiek County.

First Generation Scholarships: Annually award a renewable scholarship to a first-generation local female high school senior who is attending post-secondary education.

Power- Up Series: Provides various financial educational opportunities for women in greater Poweshiek County.

Jane goes on the say, “To be able to make an impact on a young women’s journey and be a resource of support, is the heart of S.H.E Counts.”

Join us as we continue our impact towards the engagement of women and girls and serve as a voice and champion for our communities! We are asking for you to consider a financial donation to help keep these valuable programs going forward, any monetary gift given will make a positive impact.
