Summer is just around the corner and we would like to offer your Kindergarten child the opportunity to receive swimming lessons. The Claude W. & Dolly Ahrens Foundation, Grinnell-Newburg Schools and the Grinnell Recreation Department have teamed up once again for the FREE Kindergarten swimming lessons that Claude Ahrens started so many years ago during the 1990’s. This is for all children currently attending Kindergarten during the 2019/2020 academic year.

Please see the City’s website www.grinnelliowa.gov under Parks and Recreation to find the current program guide which lists all of the Grinnell Recreation Department’s American Red Cross Swimming Lessons for summer 2020. Your child will be able to register for any one session of American Red Cross Swimming Lessons. Learning to swim is a life long skill that kids can enjoy now and really appreciate later in life.

All you need to do is contact the Grinnell Recreation Department by Friday, May 29th to register for your free session. If you are unsure what level your child should be in we can help you with that. All classes have limited enrollments and registration is on a first come – first serve basis.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all swim lessons are subject to be changed or be cancelled. The Grinnell Recreation Department will do their best with the guidelines and parameters set by state and local health officials to host their summer swim lesson program.
