As you may or may not be aware, several racially-motivated incidences have occurred in Grinnell over the last few months targeting people of color, specifically Grinnell College students. These incidents have escalated in frequency in recent weeks. The Claude W. and Dolly Ahrens Foundation and Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation are working to improve the quality of life for members of the Grinnell community and supporting local community projects and needs. We are also committed to tackling tough challenges, speaking up, and fighting for justice, equity, and systemic change. Will you take action with us today by committing to:
- report racist harassment and vandalism to Grinnell Police at 641-623-5602 or 911,
- call the Grinnell Police department at the same number if you know the individual(s) involved,
- photograph license plate numbers of vehicles harassing citizens to give to police,
- enroll in bystander intervention training by leaving your contact information at 641-269-3407, and
- share these action-items with your own networks?
By working together, we can ensure that the Grinnell community is welcoming and inclusive for all of our citizens and visitors.
